Ayana Day
STEM Teacher
Longfellow Middle School
Hello. My name is Ayana Day. The kids call me Ms. Day and I teach here at Longfellow Middle school. I am the STEM teacher. I have been doing this for three years now.
What do you like most about it?
Learning with the kids? Yeah, that's the best thing, because I don't know everything. They don't know everything. We figure it out together.
What's particularly cool about teaching STEM?
My favorite things are the robots.
Yeah? Show me the robots.
Yes. All right. These right here, they're called spiral bots and we'll hook them up to our phones. It’s something new to me and new to STEM itself. I also have robots, but they're not here. Those are my favorite. We will code the robots and we will have them walk and talk and give them certain commands and they will do as we command.
So you've been learning how to use these things?
Yes. And I play with them at home. The kids like these the most actually.
