At Anna Brochhausen School 88, part of IPS, we are dedicated to providing enriching activities that foster both personal growth and community spirit among our students. A standout example of such initiatives is our Apex Benefits Monumental Marathon Group, led by the dedicated Mr. Windsor, whose commitment has seen the program flourish remarkably from its inception.
Starting with just eight participants in its first year, the program has exploded in popularity, growing to 82 participants last year alone. This after-school program spans six to eight weeks each fall, offering students a comprehensive learning experience that covers exercise and nutrition, culminating in a marathon event held downtown—a highlight that our students eagerly anticipate each year.
From the very first week of school, students are buzzing with excitement, asking if the running club will take place again, demonstrating the positive impact and the anticipation it builds. Word of mouth from past participants also plays a crucial role in this growth, as they share their enjoyable experiences and, in turn, encourage more students to join.
Mr. Windsor exemplifies the spirit of what's possible here at IPS, proving time and again how dedicated educators can make a significant difference in the lives of our students, providing them with opportunities to engage, learn, and grow beyond the classroom.
